1. If possible, choose the topic of your speech. You will want to choose a topic that you are passionate about. Speaking about topics you are passionate about will make you less nervous when giving the speech.  Secondly, audiences love passionate speakers!
2. Choose an awesome attention gainer.  At the opening of your speech, your attention gainer should captivate the audience.  Your attention gainer could be in the form of a question, a short story, a video, or picture for example. The idea is that you want to start your speech on a high note
3. Establish Credibility.  Why should your audience listen to you?  What is so special about your speech topic?  Ask your self these questions in order to make your speech matter to your audience.  Perhaps you have experience in your subject matter that the audience should know.  Are you a member of a professional organization?  Do you have a special license?  (CPA/Accountant for example).  Maybe, you have access to an expert who you interviewed.  The bottom line is that your audience must trust what you are saying
4. Preview Your Main Points.  It will be easy for your audience to follow along in your speech if you preview your main points and tell them what to expect.  Additionally, you want to use time-line  and transitions words throughout your speech.  Words such as therefore, consequently, for example.
5. Practice, Practice. I’ve saved the best for last. This is likely the most important thing you can do to overcome nervousness.  Practice several times over until your speech becomes as natural as a conversation with friends.  Ensure that what ever visual aide you are using is easily seen by your audience member who are the farth4ese away from your.
